The digital heritage consultant and archaeologist, Marcus Abbott, will be visiting the Stronafian Community Forest from the 30th September to 2nd October, in order to conduct laser scan surveys and drone LIDAR photography on several of our historic sites, including the Lephikill chambered cairn and the Auchategan ancient village, which was excavated by Dorothy Marshall and team in the 1960s (see image).
Although Marcus will be busy at work, he’s more than willing to chat to residents and visitors about his survey techniques, and on what he’s aiming to achieve from the visit, so please say hello if you spot him in the forest.
