Now that our commercial tenants have completed felling operations in the southern part of the community forest, their contractors have made a start on creating a new All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) track network to provide access ahead of restocking operations next year (see map below). These ATV tracks use material from underneath and slightly adjacent to the paths themselves, and are therefore classed as very low impact.
In time, these tracks will be added to our own path network to provide longer walking trails, as well as a number of new viewing and picnic sites. As they start off fairly soft and take a good six months to settle, we will keep this network closed over the winter, but hope to have them open by early June. The images show where tracks have been used to reinstate the zig-zag entry into the community forest path network from the Clachan side.
